Island Abroad is a cultural project exploring how Caribbean people are building lives, creating art, shaping culture, and navigating identity across countries like Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal, to name a few. While Caribbean culture is widely recognized globally, the lived experiences of Caribbean people in Europe are less often documented in a thoughtful and intentional way. 

Island Abroad aims to change that.

Through a combination of video interviews published on YouTube and written profiles published here, the project seeks to capture personal stories that reflect both individual journeys and broader cultural themes.

Island Abroad will carefully select our features, prioritizing depth over volume. These stories may include:

• Caribbean entrepreneurs and creatives building businesses in Europe
   
• Students and professionals navigating identity and opportunity abroad
   
• The influence of Caribbean culture in European music, food, dance, and art
   
• Caribbean women and men forging new paths while staying connected to their roots
   

At its core, Island Abroad exists to create something meaningful, build community, and contribute to a growing archive of Caribbean diaspora stories in Europe.
